The recital will be Saturday, May 17 2025 from 4:30-5:45 pm in the sanctuary of the church (upstairs from where we have lessons - 100 Carr Street 80226). You can park in our normal lot or the one on Carr.
Got it!
Will your young musician(s) be able to perform at this time?
Yes, any time!
Yes, if it's at a specific time.
We'll be audience members for this one!
We can't make it this time, sorry!
You are allowed to bring as many audience members as you'd like - friends, family, teachers or coaches, etc.
Great!
The show will be live-streamed on YouTube for out of town fans. See the Google Calendar invite (link at top of page, the livestream link is in the description of the invite and will go live at the time of the event). You can share this invite link with anticipated guests, both local and out of town so they can access the recording during or after the event.
Got it!
I understand the YouTube link is unlisted and will only be viewable to those with a link, but I still have privacy concerns. I'll text Mallory at 303-217-0046 with my requested accommodation so we can discuss if it's possible.
This recital is movie themed! All the performers will be doing songs from movies or somehow related to them. There will be a red carpet for performers to walk down and a place for them to pose for photos from the "paparazzi" (family and friends)! Performers and audience members are encouraged to dress up in their red carpet best or as their favorite character from the movie their song is from!
Got it!
Ms. Mallory has worked with everyone she thinks is performing on what their piece will be. Do you know what your performer is working on for the recital?
I know what my musician is performing and how to support their practice.
I don't know what my musician is performing or should be working on, I'll text Mallory at 303-217-0046 with my question.
If this is your performer's first recital, do they seem anxious? If not, in your conversations with them, just focus on the positives like how proud they'll be of themselves and the applause they'll get. If they do seem anxious, I have many resources and strategies to deal with stage fright (it's super common and normal, and the adults in their life acknowledging that and sharing their own experiences to normalize it is very helpful).
Do you have any specific concerns you'd like me to address with your performer?
The step by step sequence of events in the recital and what the performer should be doing during each of these steps.
Strategies to help prepare themselves in the weeks leading up to the recital.
Strategies to deal with anxiety in the moment (on the day of the recital).
Practicing upstairs in the recital space during music sessions.
My performer is not nervous or has done this before and doesn't need specific support.
The recital is optional for everyone, but I encourage everyone who would like to do so to perform. In past years I have not charged any materials or recital fees, but I do pay rental and labor fees to the church for their generous offering of their space, technology, and wonderful people to help us make this a great show. In addition I put a ton of time into arranging and graphic designing versions of songs for every performer and learning style. I do this not only during recital time but year round. I also design games, take home resources, and pay for sheet music subscriptions and books through which I share music freely with my clients. I usually stay at work till 9 or 10, sometimes much later, working on these things. I honestly love doing it, I wouldn't do it otherwise! But in recognition of all these extra costs, I've decided to institute a yearly materials/recital fee of $50. It would be added to your next bill date. Please choose the option below that fits your situation best, and note that Medicaid Music Therapy recipients are exempt from this.
I can accommodate this in my budget.
I can accommodate this in my budget, but I need to change my bill date to work with timing of paychecks.
I cannot accommodate this in my budget and will text Mallory at 303-217-0046 to let her know so we can talk about options.
My child receives Music Therapy through the Medicaid waiver so this doesn't apply to me.
Do you have any other questions or concerns that I can answer? Please type them here, or text me at 303-217-0046 with time-sensitive issues. Note that text is the best way to get ahold of me as I've been having issues with my email software. Thanks so much for your cooperation and support in the lead up to the recital! You are an integral part of what makes these productions great!
