Mallory Connors is a board-certified Music Therapist who attended Colorado State University, one of the nation’s leading Music Therapy research institutions. She has experience providing therapy to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, individuals with physical or sensory disabilities, individuals who have experienced strokes or other traumatic brain injuries, and older adults.
Though her training specialized in Neurologic Music Therapy, she uses techniques from many approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Creative Music Therapy, and Biomedical Music Therapy. She regularly consults with client’s other therapists including Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Counseling, and any other therapies clients are in, making sure she supports their goals and objectives to provide a multi-disciplinary collaboration environment to best serve the client.
She has taught private lessons and group music classes to students from varying ages and ability levels from infants to adults. She uses student’s interests, strengths, and learning style to make lessons and classes an enjoyable and fun experience.
Ms. Mallory has additional training and certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) as well as First Aid, CPR, and AED operation. She has undergone continuing education regarding executive functioning, cultural inclusion, and facilitating improvisation, among others.
Ms. Mallory received her minor in Spanish. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and can provide services in either language (or a mix of both!) to benefit both clients and families. Should you or your family speak a different language than those listed, she will work to learn and facilitate music in your language as well as honor and learn more about your culture.
